Burgers on the Beach

by James Wampler
(Shelbyville, Ky. USA)

With this being summer, I was able to take a week to go to the beach with some friends at Carolina Beach State Park in North Carolina.

It was around the same time as all of the shark attacks in that area, but we were able to avoid any unfortunate events :)

The Sol Source is a great way to share solar cooking with people, or just meet people. People are curious about the "shiny satellite dish"

After a day of flying power kites and games of "spikeball" <-- (a great beach game, highly recommend...the generic version is called "slammo" but it isn't all that much cheaper...and it isn't as nice overall)--- we had worked up an appetite for some hamburgers. Hamburgers are second only to bacon in their ability to draw people in via smell, but they can take longer to cook thoroughly than hot dogs or something similar.

Maybe next year we'll be eating shark :)

I hope this finds everyone having a great summer! Have fun cooking!
