Mama always told me Cooking was Fun

by Alice
(New Castle, PA, USA)

I hate being hot, so conventional cooking in the summer has always been a chore. Then came one of those moments that change the course of one's life! I found out about solar cooking.

It wasn't long until I purchased a Sport Solar Oven and my former cooking methods fast became obsolete -- that is, when the sun cooperates. We have a lot of hazy days and a lot of cloud coverage but enough sunshine to cook quite often.

My usual pattern of getting out of bed in the morning has become much more interesting as first check to see if the sun is shining and to figure what I can cook in my solar oven.

On the day the mailman dropped off my Sport SOS and the fun began. I rapidly unwrapped the oven, set it up, and started my very first solar cooking experience -- a hot dog.
Now I don't recommend doing what I did -- starting to cook something without reading all the directions, but it worked, and I was hooked.
Now I've cooked hot dogs just about every way there is to cook them and I must say that solar-cooked hot dog was the best!

I'm still learning -- have only had my Sport SOS less than a month but it's had more use in that length of time than my conventional stove and oven.
