Solar Cooking attempt #1

by Cookie
(Sanford, NC)

Hey there solar cats!

I finally got my solar cooker in the mail and was very excited to get it started up. I decided to start small and get it warm enough to boil some water. So I set it up, and pointed that puppy toward that glowing ball of greatness and walked away. Come to check on it a little while later and she was sitting at 200 degrees. I was excited to see it warming up so fast. Then BAM! The sun hazed over and she sat at 200 steady. So my first attempt with my solar cooker was a stale mate. I will attempt to do the same exercise on another sunny day.

Sorry to disappoint, but I assure you that I am determined to make this work for me!

Welcome to the unpredictable world of Solar Cooking, weather can challenge even the best of solar cooks. Bu,t you will learn quickly how to squeeze every bit of solar cooking opportunity out of a day that you possibly can, even on not-so-sunny-days.
