Solar Oven odor

Hello, I own the global solar oven. I cleaned it according to directions before use, and there was a noticeable plastic-like taste to the muffins I baked (my first attempt at use). I left quite an after taste that I noticed even the next day.
Other reviews say this should not be an issue after a few uses, or when cooking in a covered pot in the oven..

I cleaned my oven again, hoping to speed the process of getting past this odor stage. I took out the aluminum cooking tray and also put that in the dishwasher. To my surprise, when I opened the dishwasher, the paint on it had started to wash away!
and the whole thing had turned purple! I took it out and even after it was dry and cool from the dishwasher, the paint still was smearable.

Another review mentioned they thought the odor was emanating from the removable tray in their oven. I will try my oven again tomorrow without the tray and see if that makes a difference - perhaps it is indeed just the tray that is the culprit.

Yes,this "smell" issue has come up a fewtimes with a number of Sun Oven owners, but usually most have been able to overcome this with a bit of pre-cleaning and regular use.
Of course it is disconcerting when it persists.

We would like to invite others to share their experiences with the same and their own solutions to this particular issue.
Maybe we can get some helpful solutions.
