failed solar popcorn tryout

by ronald
(maui hawaii)

I tried to fry or cook popcorn and it wouldn't work. So say need oil and then cook it in the dish but wouldn't work. It burned wood instantly but that's it. Soon going to make my own tripod instead of holding the pot in my hands. Best thing i found it useful for is capturing rain water it works amazingly.

Greetings Ronald,

Thanks for sharing your attempt at solar cooked popcorn.

I do have to ask though, what kind of solar cooker were you using?
It sounds like you made a parabolic cooker.
How big was the cooker?
The size of the parabolic matters, because if it is too small it will not generate enough heat to pop your popcorn. It might boil some water after a long while but it cannot deep fry, pressure cook or pop popcorn unless it is a larger parabolic that can capture and concentrate a lot of sunshine into one spot.
