Solar Cooked Man Food (AKA The Couch Potato)

The Couch Potato!!

The Couch Potato!!

Hide your forks Vegans!! I created the ultimate man food in my solar oven this weekend. I call it the 'Couch Potato', and as you can guess, it's main ingredient is...you guessed it! Potatoes!!

I don't know about anyone else, but getting my beau to eat veggies requires a lot of coaxing. The only way he will eat any veggie is if it doesn't taste like a veggie. So what does an innovator like me do? ADD BACON!!

The recipe is as follows-

-ingredients

- 1 lb. bag of baby potatoes
- couple handfuls of shredded cheese
- FROZEN thick cut bacon
- couple spoonfuls of butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- chives or green onion
- 1/2 yellow onion

STEP 1- Warm up your oven!!! 250-300 degrees should do it

STEP 2- While you wait for your oven to warm up, slice the baby potatoes in half and line the bottom of your solar pot.

STEP 3- Slice yellow onion and layer on top of your potatoes

STEP 4- Add your butter or margarine, salt and pepper

STEP 5- Take your FROZEN bacon and slice off pieces. Think bruchetta. Layer the bacon on top of the onions and potatoes. Now its ready for the oven!!

STEP 6- Put that puppy in your sun oven with the LID ON and wait. Remember to wear oven mitts! I burned the crap out of my knuckles lowering the pot in. You want to check on it and align your oven every 30 min.

STEP 7- When bacon starts to look darker, but not crispy, open up your oven and add cheese and chives. Let it cook for another 20-30 min with the LID OFF.

STEP 8- Bring it to your honey on the couch during his favorite football game!

My honey scarfed the whole pot of these. And asks me when I am making it again!

Whoever said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach is right!

Enjoy!!
