Is the desert southwest too hot for solar cookers? Do they wear out more quickly?

Our temperatures will be increasing as global warming intensifies. Will this change how to use the solar cookers? Should I automatically get a "heavy duty" version I presume that to be the All American?

Too hot for a solar cooker?
by: Nathan

Greetings, and thank you for your question.

It does get hot in Tucson, AZ, but the ambient (surrounding, outside) Temperatures do not really affect how a well made solar cooker will cook.
I too live in the desert southwest with hot temps and I have been using my solar cookers for years with great results. In fact, when it is too hot outside that is when it is an especially good time to set your solar cooker outside to cook and thus keep the heat out of your kitchen by not using the inside stove/oven.
Your solar cookers, if taken care of, will not wear out from use or exposure to the sun, they are designed to be in the sun. Of course you would not want to not leave a cooker exposed to the elements such as water and dirt by just leaving them outside and unprotected.

Most all of the cookers we sell on our site are well designed and well made and will give you quite a few good years of effective use if taken care of.

The All American Sun Oven you mentioned has a great track record and has been used in all extremes of environments around the world, and tens of thousands of owners over the years, some going onto 30 years, can vouch for its reliability.
