Solar Cooking at the Farm

by Joyce
(UT)

A week ago,I traveled to a small farm to do a Solar cooking demo for the farmers family and some of their friends.
Luckily we had a few hours break in the monsoon so starting late morning I baked a loaf of bread, made a Polenta, a Chile Lime Chicken and Quinoa topping for the Polenta , and Oatmeal cookies, and Hard boiled eggs.
Had to keep everything Covered because the flies were so thick!
At 6:00 p.m. The Sun started being bothered by those pesky clouds again but we we got the last of the cookies to bake at around 325 degrees so the kids were happy!
The sun must have been happy for us too because we spotted a sun dog up there in the sky. A nice end to our fun activity!

Sometimes you have to squeeze your solar cooking in between the clouds, I do it myself as well, so it can be done.
Way to persevere...
