Solar Cooking Changing the Face of Peace
I wanted to share with you a wonderful story. I work for the military in the special operations community. I spoke with some high ranking individuals about how solar can help the peace mission in other countries and was asked for more info.
After I put together a presentation of my own adventures with my GSO, my commander sent info to all the smaller teams within the unit. They saw how useful it could be to utilize this knowledge in the battlefield. Not only to help the peace mission, but to help our soldiers as well. There are many places that we travel that does not allow for soldiers to have food available less MRE's. The GSO could change all that.
Not only that, within those austere environments, many of the civilians that live there have to burn poop to warm their food and make their bread. This can allow them a more sterile, healthy way to feed their families. You may see a lot more solar cooking coming to our peace mission all over the world.
I love the thought that I may have helped the mission by sharing my love for solar cooking!!!
This is great!
I hope this has inspired, or at least, germinated an idea that will cause at least some in our armed services to look at this great alternative for cooking foods in a field environment.
In fact the solar cooker can be just as useful for sterilizing and purifying water and medical instruments in these same field environments, a big need in third world countries.
There are many organizations promoting solar cooking in many of the poorest countries already, but just think of the impact if the armed services were to help introduce and implement the use of solar cookers wherever they might find themselves around the world
Keep up the good work and keep on promoting the great art of solar cooking.
