Solar Down Under

Hi all,

I live in my VW Winnebago and travel Australia wide, year round with stops of maybe a month here and there depending on my whims, people I meet and on the weather. We are so lucky here to have so much sun to satisfy the most ardent solar fan.

Firstly a word of caution to those contemplating purchasing from Gosun direct. December 26th 2014 I ordered two Sport models , they arrived sure enough but one was short packed the evacuated tube and the cooking tray. I was assured that it would be rectified "pronto". Upon this advice I ordered a Mini to be sent with the missing parts. All goods paid for plus international airfreight- yes not cheap. Still nothing has arrived. I have had many many promises after 100's of emails. No deliveries. I am now being ignored. Just a warning, beware of these people, I am out of pocket a considerable sum of US$ due to their ethics.

I have panels on the roof to 390 Watts for my in house requirements. I also have one Gosun Sports,(and a half one unused and a mini un-delivered), a Himin, a Copenhagen as well as the 4'6" parabolic dish, all of which get used as required.

Everything I eat is cooked with solar, even my hot water, when conditions are good or even fair, which is most of the time. The Himin is an almighty unit, backed up with the Gosun when inquisitive fellow campers get hungry as well. The Copenhagen is my fall back for mainly roasting, baking and making a bush damper -very good- or a stew. Excellent for what it does. Ground chicken, wings, half chicken, sausages, pork and lamb chops, steaks, they all go into the Himin. Wish I could get the other Gosun and the mini, would be excellent. The evacuated tubes cook even on heavy cloud days, maybe a bit longer but they get there. The monster parabolic is a "handle with caution". A very high temp unit and to date I need constant attention when using it. I will get better with use.

All over ? I am a very happy "solar-ite".

I recommend this site thoroughly. Nathan Parry is a very honest and straight forward operator who I cannot praise highly enough. My dealings with him have resulted in nothing but total respect, thanks Nathan.
